Around 1 pm EST 02/02/12, I observed that the messages are starting to flow into the email list.   I imagine there is quite a large backlog, so the timing of many messages will be delayed until the processing catches up the backlog.

On 02/01/12, a subscriber to the meditech-l sent a large attachment to the list.    This is something I have advised people never to do.   The server tried to copy this messages 3400+ times to send to that many subscribers.  Somewhere during that process, the server ran out of storage and/or memory....   The result was a server crash that stopped the meditech-l as well as many other clients of the the provider to services our account.  

The provider suspended my account while they worked on recovering from the crash.   The provider is still deciding what to do with my account since we have become a repeat offender.   I thought I had managed to set all possible parameters to avoid such a thing happening, but some user was able to get around all barriers that had been set.

 

This morning, the account was reactivated though I have not seen proof that the meditech-l is working.      I have emailed the provider to inquire about the status.  Since I cannot guarantee to communicate via the email list, I will be posting updates to this article.  Please keep referring back to MTUsers.net, reviewing this article, and communicating with your friends who use the meditech-l.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Sr. Analyst, Laboratory Information Systems, functions across all Cape Cod Healthcare affiliates and has direct responsibility for supporting the information systems needs of the Laboratory.

 

The Sr. Analyst, Laboratory Information Systems functions independently and supports multiple complex applications and projects across many departments.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

·          Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Information Systems, Health Care Administration or health care related field required or an equivalent amount of related experience and education obtained that demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

·          Two to five years experience in the installation, design and maintenance of a laboratory information system in a complex multisystem environment with a large outreach business.

·          Exceptional written and oral communications skills, teaching skills and reasoning ability.

·          Demonstrated innovative thinking and excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

·          Ability to clearly present design concepts and system functionality in an understandable, logical and concise manner.

·          Ability to communicate with and present to a wide variety of audiences.

·          Ability to efficiently multitask and prioritize to meet project deadlines is required.

·          Technical skills appropriate to support LIS functions.

 

Additional qualifications:

·         Direct experience with supporting Meditech Laboratory application and/or experience with Siemens Novius lab, Wyndagte Blood Bank and/or Impac Pathology application required.

·         Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required.

·         Preferred experience with HL7 integration with physician office’s.

·         Intermediate level experience with NPR Report Writer or Crystal report writer preferred.

·         Familiarity with other Meditech HIS and/or Siemens HIS products preferred.
